We are committed to the belief that through education, we prepare students for their duties and responsibilities in life. In addition, our belief in the power of giving back is evidenced by the lives we change when granting scholarships to deserving students. The Alumni was driven by the compassion and passion of Mrs. Brenda Blackmon Johnson, who took the wheel and keep the Alumni going for more than 26 years! For her commitment, a scholarship in her memory is given each year to one deserving student in the amount of $1,200.00. Other awards are given as well.
Over the past few years, we have awarded approximately $20,000.00 in scholarships! With your help, we can increase our giving overwhelmingly. The success of the Alumni Association depends upon the extent to which the graduates from the past, present, and future render their support at meetings, fundraising projects, and financial giving. Seeing the faces and hearing the testimonies of the scholarship candidates makes one proud to be a part of the George Washington Carver family.
